We are proud to welcome Dr. Konica Singla to our Shane Retina team as a medical retina specialist serving patients at our ophthalmology clinic on University Parkway in Sarasota. Originally from India, Dr. Singla began her medical journey by earning her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and completing a Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology. From the very start of her career, Dr. Singla distinguished herself in both clinical practice and academia.

Eager to expand her expertise in retinal disease, Dr. Singla moved to the United States to train at some of the country’s most renowned institutions. Her path included an ocular oncology fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, followed by a medical retina fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami—consistently ranked #1 for ophthalmology by U.S. News & World Report. During these fellowships, she honed her skills in diagnosing and treating complex conditions ranging from macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy to ocular tumors and beyond.

Dr. Singla’s dedication to advancing eye care is evident in her research portfolio—she has contributed to numerous publications and presentations on retinal diseases, ocular oncology, and innovative treatment approaches. I was in need of an urgent appointment with an Ophthalmologist and was able to secure a same-day appointment with Dr. Singla. It was determined that I had a small hole in my retina and, after testing and discussion, I had a laser surgery right then and there.
